Millbrook Combined School
Millbrook Combined School provides education for children aged 2-11 on the western side of High Wycombe. The capacity of the school is 600. The intended admission number to Reception for the school year 2018-2019 is 9 0.
Each Nursery class has a capacity of 39. Children are admitted the term following their 3rd birthday, we currently admit in September, January and April. The Nursery offers five morning sessions or five afternoon sessions each week. To apply for a Nursery place, please obtain an application form from the school office.
Traditionally, pupils have started Reception at Millbrook in the September of the school year during which their 5th birthday falls. We recognise that this is not always appropriate for all children and happily discuss start dates on an individual basis as required.
We encourage all parents of new pupils to visit the school before their child starts. This enables them to meet the Head Teacher and tour the school during a normal working day.
In addition, we offer home visits to the parents of children joining our Nursery class. We also hold an induction session for the new Reception class intake at the beginning of July for those new to the school. This is an opportunity for the children to have their first experience of being in the classroom. Before this we hold an induction meeting for parents to find out more about the school.
For further information on Reception admissions, please refer to the Buckinghamshire County Council Website . Please note that even if your child attends the Millbrook Combined School Nursery class, the County Council requires you to apply for a Reception place separately. Being in the Nursery does not automatically give your child a place in Reception.
Whilst we welcome informal approaches to the school for in-year admissions, the County Council now administers the in-year admissions for all community schools. If you would like your child to come to Millbrook Combined School, please speak to us and we can direct you to the relevant paperwork.
The school runs a Nursery classes for children from the term after their third birthday. Parents can opt for either a morning sessions (8:45am to 11:45am) or an afternoon session (12:30pm to 3:30pm). We are able to accept a maximum of 39 children (morning session) and 39 children (afternoon session), into Nursery. A copy of the Nursery Admissions Policy is available on the website under Forms and Policies.
The Nursery class provides a good opportunity for children to settle into a learning environment and is crucial to early learning and development. It is important to note that a place in the Nursery does not guarantee a school place as admissions into the Reception class are managed by Bucks County Council our admissions authority.
Nursery Plus 2 (2 Year Old Provision)
The school runs Nursery Plus 2 for children from the term after their second birthday. The places are offered to children who have a 2 Year Old funded place. If you think that your child might be eligible please speak to your Health Visitor, Children’s Centre or ring the school.
Sessions are from 12-3pm and all 2 year olds are given a hot meal as they start made by our onsite Chef. Routines include a hot meal, inside and outside child initiated activities, snack time and a fun story and rhyme time. Due to the age of the children we offer all types of toilet training.
Nursery Plus 2 is within our MAC club room inside the Wycombe West Children’s Centre but it is run by the school as is part of their Foundation Stage. It is important to note that a place in Nursery Plus 2 does not guarantee a school place as admissions into the Reception class are managed by Bucks County Council our admissions authority.
